Body of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Northern Area Deputy Major Commander Ahmed Athif has been brought to Male’ for burial.

Family and friends had gathered near jetty in front of President’s Office to receive his body.

He is to be laid to rest in Aa Sahara mosque after funeral prayers at 11.30 pm.

He was serving as Northern Area Deputy Major Commander in Hanimaadhoo island at time of death.

RaajjeMV understands that the Major, who has had three decades of service to MNDF, was found dead in his room at around noon on Sunday.

The late Athif had earned the National Service Award.

He had served as a Judge in ‘Voice of MNDF’.
