Joint Opposition parties have claimed that their Parliamentarians were slammed with criminal charges to intimidate them, adding that Prosecutor General (PG) Aishath Bisham was clearly biased.

Joint Opposition Spokesperson Ahmed Mahloof made the statement in a press conference on Sunday.

In the press conference, the Parliamentarian for Galolhu South Constituency had strong criticism of the PG. He said Bisham was fearful for her position and therefore acted against the very mandate of her position. Mahloof said the none of the opposition had any faith in the PG. he added they were contemplating filing a no confidence motion on her.

Referring to lack of Parliament sessions, MP Mahloof said the citizens believe that sessions were halted not because of opposition MPs. He noted that the Parliament was now run under the directive of Major General Ahmed Shiyam and that major changes were planned for the Parliament.

He also noted the election results of the by-elections for Kamadhoo Council was indicative of public sentiments towards current Government and incumbent President Abdullah Yameen.
