Parliamentarians file case against police with 241 committee
Their case states that officers who were dispatched to suppress demonstrations have, on numerous occasions, used excessive force and derogatory language
Several male officers had also inappropriately attempted to subdue and apprehend women at said demonstrations, the case claims.
A number of opposition parliamentarians have filed a case against police officers making allegations of brutality to the parliament’s National Security Services (241) committee.
The case was filed by Mariya Ahmed Didi, of the North-Mahchangoalhi constituency, Eva Abdulla, of the North-Galolhu constituency, and Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, of the Central-Hithadhoo constituency.
Their case states that officers who were dispatched to suppress demonstrations have, on numerous occasions, used excessive force and derogatory language. Several male officers had also inappropriately attempted to subdue and apprehend women at said demonstrations, the case claims.
It further states that police officers have threatened demonstrators that later identified the officers that had allegedly abused them.
