The Communications Authority of Maldives (CAM), which was operated under the newly established Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public works earlier, has been moved to the purview of the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology.

The incumbent administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu made the change effective from Tuesday.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the President’s Office announced the transfer of CAM to the home ministry.

The statement reads that the decision stemmed from the powers granted to the president under Article 116 (a) of the Constitution of Maldives.

At a time CAM has been transferred to the purview of the home ministry, it is to be noted that there are already eight other agencies operating under the ministry.
