Discussions have been held on enhancing cooperation with the European Investment Bank (EIB).
This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with Vice President of the European Investment Bank Ambroise Fayolle on Monday.
The meeting was held in Antigua and Barbuda, on the sidelines of the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
The conference is taking place from May 27 – 30.
The meeting saw President Muizzu extending gratitude for the bank’s ongoing support.
The Maldivian leader also assured his administration’s dedication to strengthen the ties developed over the past few decades.
Discussions also revolved around avenues of cooperation to fund climate-resilient infrastructure projects such as seawalls, shore protection, water management systems, and renewable energy initiatives to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Before concluding the talks, they exchanged views on renewable energy, climate mitigation and adaptation.
