Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has refuted the claims that he has moved out of Hilaaleege.
In a publication, a local news outlet reported that VP Latheef had recently moved out of Hilaaleege in the capital city, and moved into an apartment in Hulhumalé.
The news outlet reported that VP Latheef had left Hilaaleege because he was “being spied on” by the government.
Denying these claims on a post on social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday, VP Latheef brushed them off, saying that they were baseless.
The vice president has also respectfully called to avoid corrupting the society by spreading such rumors.
While some media outlets have reported that the vice president has left the residence, he is yet to move into Hilaaleege as it is still under renovation.
Hilaaleege has been the official residence of vice presidents for many terms.
The incumbent vice president’s predecessor, Faisal Naseem also resided in Hilaaleege with his family, before moving out in November 2023 after the new administration was elected.
