The crucial development needs of Olhuvelifushi island in Lhaviyani atoll have been shared with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

This was done during a meeting the president held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Saturday.

Discussions at the meeting revolved around concerns linked to the delay in the commencement of the harbor construction project, the urgent need to complete the water supply and sanitation system as well as improving the island's electricity supply.

Councilors also requested the government to pave easier access to sea ambulance services.

The meeting also saw the island’s WDC members shedding light on the necessity of Ramadan allowances for them as well as concerns regarding budget constraints that have been hindering the renovation of the WDC building.

Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that his administration would address the issues raised by the council and seek solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.

Members of the president’s Cabinet of Ministers accompanying him on the tour shared latest updates linked to the issues raised, at the meeting.
