Discussions have been held on the most important development needs of islands across Lhaviyani atoll.

This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Saturday.

The meeting saw the councilors requesting the government to prioritize the restoration of the State House.

They also shed light on the need to develop an uninhabited island as a picnic destination in the atoll.

Further, the president was also briefed on concerns regarding the permitted sand mining area.

Councilors went on to request the government to lift the current restrictions in bait fishing zones.

Shedding light on the requirement to enhance ferry transportation system within the atoll, council members urged the government to expand cargo services within the ferry network.

Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that his administration would address the issues raised by the council and seek solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.
