The government is to implement renewable energy projects in schools.
This was announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, while speaking to residents of Meedhoo island of Dhaalu atoll earlier this week.
Taking the podium at the meeting, the president stated that the renewable energy projects will be launched at schools with the aim of facilitating the powering of AC units in classrooms
He acknowledged the mutual request for this initiative from students, teachers, and school managements across the nation.
Adding that the establishment of handball courts is a highly anticipated project by Women's Development Committees (WDCs) nationwide, Muizzu assured that his administration is committed to allocate funds in the state budget for 2025, for the development of these facilities in as many islands as possible.
Further, the president pledged to link Meedhoo island with the reclaimed area by ensuring essential service connectivity, including electricity, water, and sanitation networks.
He also announced that his administration plans to commence a road construction project in Meedhoo and establish at least 200 housing units as part of the nationwide housing project.
Muizzu also pledged to upgrade the island's harbor with changes requested as per the preferences of the island community.
