Council members of Rasgetheemu island of Raa atoll have stressed the need for a cultural center to be established on the island.
This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Sunday.
Discussions at the meeting revolved around the need for road construction, the provision of water and sanitation services to additional households, the swift expedition of constructing eight classrooms and a multipurpose hall in the school, and the importance of a cultural center and a slipway.
Other needs shared by the council for the island’s social progress, include a children's park, a football stadium and other requirements of the island community.
Listening to these concerns, the president revealed that the administration would dedicate resources towards building a slipway within the scope of constructing the harbor channel and stated that he would prioritize the establishment of a cultural center on the island.
Rasgetheemu island council is the 100th council the president has met since initiating efforts to meet all local councils nationwide, from February 6 this year.
