President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been briefed on the development needs of Maduvvari island in Raa atoll.

This was done during a meeting the president held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Saturday.

Deliberations at the meeting revolved around key development concerns, including the need to maximize land reclamation within feasible limits as well as to increase housing opportunities for the island community.

Further, they also relayed the need to establish a youth center on the island and address the development needs of the island’s school.

Maduvvari councilors urged the administration to initiate an airport development project in the southernmost end of the atoll and to incorporate Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry services.

The meeting also saw the island’s WDC members sharing their most pressing concerns with the president.

Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that his administration would address the issues raised by the council and seek solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.
