Council members of Kurinbi island in Haa Dhaal atoll have urged the government to expedite the development projects that have been halted on the island.

This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with the island’s council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) on Monday.

The meeting saw discussions revolving around the need for a proper waste management system, the development of a multipurpose hall at the school as well as the need to launch round-the-clock services at the island health center.

The councilors sought from the government to allocate a budget to construct an artificial beach on the island as well as to operate the preschool.

The island’s WDC members raised concerns they face due to the lack of options to conduct activities, due to budgetary constraints.

Listening to these concerns, the president expressed commitment to address them and explore agreeable solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.

The meeting also saw members of the president’s Cabinet of Ministers providing updates on the government’s efforts to address the concerns raised.
