President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been briefed on the development concerns facing the community of Nellaidhoo island in Haa Dhaal atoll.
This was done during a meeting the president held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) on Monday.
Several concerns facing the island community were shared with the president including the need for a road construction project, the need to install a water sanitation and sewerage system, the requirement of a new mosque as well as finding solutions to housing concerns and erosion issues.
Councilors also requested the government to relocate all the offices on the island, to the same region.
Speaking at the meeting, Nellaidhoo WDC members expressed the need to draft new guidelines for the committee to operate more effectively.
The meeting also saw the president expressing commitment to fulfil the pledges he has made to the people.
Further, he also expressed commitment to thoroughly examine the issues raised at the meeting and find agreeable solutions.
Members of the president’s Cabinet of Ministers present at the meeting provided updates on the administration’s initiatives planned for the island.
