President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to resolve the issues facing the community of Nolhivaranfaru island in Haa Dhaal atoll.

This was done during a meeting he held with the island’s council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) on Sunday.

The meeting saw discussions revolving around development needs of the island community, including an initiative to establish a police post, fast-tracking the road construction project and the establishment of a new school.

Councilors also sought from the government to increase the salary of their administrative staff, to improve the transport system within the atoll, as well as to enhance sports facilities for the youth community.

The president was also briefed on the council’s desire to see the implementation of the development initiatives planned and budgeted for the progress of the island.

Expressing confidence in the Muizzu administration on fulfilling pledges made, the councilors expressed gratitude for fostering a strong bond with the people.

Speaking at the meeting, the island’s WDC members shed light on issues related to budgetary constraints.

Acknowledging the need to increase the budget for WDCs, the president shared his strategy to tackle this issue.
