Discussions have been held on strategies to enhance income across island of Haa Alif atoll.
This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with members of Haa Alif atoll council on Sunday.
Atoll councilors shed light on the need to modernize services at the atoll hospital and shared multiple pressing issues facing the atoll, with the president.
As such, they stated that they have shared their needs and concerns with relevant ministries.
Talking about ways to enhance income in the region, councilors urged the government to improve the transportation infrastructure.
In addition to this, they also stressed on budget constraints as well as the lack of space in council offices across some islands of the atoll.
Councilors went on to request the installation of fish aggregating devices, as the atoll is a designated fishing area.
Listening to these concerns, the president assured his commitment to make every effort to implement recommendations for the progress of the atoll.
President Muizzu also stated that the government would work with relevant ministries to provide swift solutions to the issues raised.
