President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to address the concerns of the community of Thakandhoo island in Haa Alif atoll.
The assurance was given during a meeting he held with members of the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) on Saturday.
The meeting saw councilors stressing the need to expedite the water and sanitation project and the need for a community center.
They also requested the administration’s assistance to resolve waste management issues and for the construction of a waste management center.
The president was also briefed on challenges facing the council due to budget limitations.
Councilors expressed their wish to incorporate an uninhabited island into their jurisdiction with an aim to enhance the economic progress of the island.
Listening to these concerns, the president assured the councilors that he would address the concerns raised at the meeting, after consulting with relevant authorities.
