The government will support the agricultural development of Kondey island of Gaaf Alif atoll, says President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The president said this while speaking to the island’s residents on Wednesday, as part of his tour of some islands in the south of Maldives which he began on Sunday morning.
During the meeting, the president noted that the island is well-suited to harvest and yield agricultural products on a large scale.
Highlighting that strengthening the agriculture sector is a policy that reflects his administration's focus on economic growth, the president noted that the policy to boost the agriculture sector is an ambitious and vital policy towards achieving food security for the entire population of Maldives.
In addition to this, he noted that several resorts in the tourism sector import agricultural products.
Muizzu stated that being able to efficiently cater to this demand in the future, is a long-term goal of his administration.
The president also expressed commitment to work in the best interest of the island residents, to achieve their desired goals.
