The government has announced a project to connect Veymandoo and Kinbindhoo islands of Thaa atoll, via a causeway.
This was announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, while speaking to residents of Kinbidhoo island on Thursday.
The meeting with Kinbidhoo residents was held as part of the president’s brief three-day tour of some islands of Thaa atoll, which he began on Tuesday and concluded on Thursday.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to build causeways connecting Kinbidhoo and Veymandoo, and Madifushi and Dhiyamigili islands as well, the president stated that this project would mirror the needs of the residents of these islands.
Muizzu stated that the government highly prioritizes economic growth and has been launching initiatives aimed at boosting income and development across the country.
Further speaking to Kinbidhoo residents, the president noted that the development of Maldives centers around economic recovery, approved by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to expand the economy.
Muizzu went on to pledge to empower island communities for prosperity.
He also promised to meet councils across islands within the next month.
