President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has vowed to bring an end to the long history of neglect communities across Thaa atoll have been facing.
He said this during a meeting with residents of Kandoodhoo island of Thaa atoll, on Wednesday.
The meeting was held as part of the president’s brief three-day tour of some islands of Thaa atoll, which he began on Tuesday.
Taking the podium at the event, the president highlighted that he would ensure that the atoll receives development opportunities just like any other atoll and consists of developed islands.
Stressing that the economy of Maldives was in ruins when he assumed office on 17 November 2023, the president noted that his administration has worked hard to implement measures to remedy this.
In addition to this, the Maldivian leader stated that an impartial investigation by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has supported the efficiency of the measures implemented by the government.
Shedding light on the concerns regarding the health sector raised by the island residents, Muizzu assured them that his administration prioritizes the health of thalassemia patients as well as their families.
Further, Muizzu also noted that his administration would ease treatment procedures for thalassemia patients and would pay special attention to the health center development project on the island.
The president departed on the tour of islands in Thaa atoll, on Tuesday. His first destination of the trip was Guraidhoo, followed by Dhiyamigili as the second destination and Madifushi as the third destination. His fourth destination was Veymandoo island.
