President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to address the issues facing the community of Vandhoo island of Thaa atoll.

This was done during a meeting held with the council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Vandhoo island on Wednesday.

The meeting was held as part of his ongoing three-day tour of some islands of Thaa atoll.

During the meeting held at the Fenaka Corporation office, Vandhoo councilors briefed the president on the most pressing needs of the island community including the requirement of an ice plant, sporting needs of the youth community, a children’s park as well as upgrades to the island’s health center.

In addition to this, they shared the difficulties posed due to space constraints at the council secretariat.

The meeting also saw WDC members expressing concern over the limited sporting facilities dedicated to women, as well as budget constraints.

Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that the administration would address the issues raised and collaborate with relevant authorities to seek agreeable solutions, through established mechanisms.

The president departed on the tour of islands in Thaa atoll, on Tuesday. His first destination of the trip was Guraidhoo, followed by Dhiyamigili as the second destination and Madifushi as the third destination. His fourth destination was Veymandoo island. A high-level delegation of government officials accompanies the president on the tour of Thaa atoll.
