The weather is expected to be fine across southern atolls this weekend.

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) revealed that scattered rain showers are expected across islands in northern atolls on Friday and Saturday.

Islands in central atolls will experience fine weather on Friday. However, scattered showers are expected to prevail across some islands of central atolls on Saturday.

The department revealed that the weather will be fine across all islands in southern atolls this weekend.

Generally fine weather was experienced across most of the country on Friday.

MMS went on to reveal that winds will be north to northeasterly in southern atolls and northeast to easterly elsewhere at 5 – 15 miles per hour.

Further, the department noted that seas will be slight throughout the country with a wave height of 2 – 4 feet.

Although tides were recorded as high as 2.7 feet in the early hours of Friday, they dropped as low as 0.1 feet in the morning and rose to 2.2 feet by afternoon in the northern atolls.

It will drop as low as 1.9 feet by sundown and rise up to 2.5 feet in the early hours of Saturday, before dropping to 0.1 by morning and rising further to 2.4 feet by afternoon.

Central atolls experienced tides rising as high as two feet in the early hours of Friday, dropping to zero by morning and ascended to 1.7 feet after nightfall. Tides will rise to 1.3 feet in the early hours of Saturday and drop to 0.1 by Saturday afternoon, before rising to 1.8 by Saturday night.

The department revealed that southern atolls will experience tides rising from one to two feet in the early hours of Friday and ascending to 1.7 feet by Saturday morning before rising further to 1.9 feet at night.
