The National Institute for Maldivian Heritage Research has been established.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu constituted the National Institute for Maldivian Heritage Research on Thursday.
The institute was established under the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage.
The new institute was established by the president under the powers vested in him under Article 116 of the Maldives Constitution.
A directive issued by the President’s Office noted that all correspondence addressed to the National Institute for Maldivian Heritage Research will be required to use the number 497, in accordance with the numbering system for state agencies.
Founded to restore and inspire knowledge of the Dhivehi language, history, culture, heritage, legacy, traditions, and patriotism within its mandate, the National Institute for Maldivian Heritage Research is a government institution.
Further, the institute carries the purpose of promoting a sense of patriotism and a general knowledge and understanding of nationalism among the public.
The institute will be known as the “Dhivehi Tharika Dhiraasaa Kuraa Gaumee Marukazu”.
Some of the activities the National Institute for Maldivian Heritage Research will conduct include encouraging a sense of patriotism and spirit of service, translating articles about the country from various languages into Dhivehi, translating traditional materials about the archipelago nation and its indigenous population, into Dhivehi.
