Chen Jianguang, the Chairman of China Metallurgical Group Corporation has paid a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The courtesy call was paid on Friday morning, as part of President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed’s ongoing state visit to China.

The meeting saw the chairman congratulating President Muizzu on a successful state visit to China.

He briefed the Maldivian president on the company’s milestones and gave details of the ongoing projects in the Maldives.

The chairman expressed desire to further cooperate and contribute more to the development of the archipelago nation.

Expressing confidence that the economy of Maldives would boom during the incumbent administration, the chairman applauded Muizzu’s visionary economic development plan.

Further, the meeting saw Muizzu briefing the chairman on the upcoming projects his administration has planned, including his vision to swiftly implement development projects.

Muizzu expressed hopes to observe further cooperation between the two countries.

President Muizzu and FL Sajidha departed to the People’s Republic of China on a state visit on January 7. The state visit is being conducted upon an official invitation from the President of China, Xi Jinping. The first couple is accompanied by a high-level delegation of government officials during the visit.

The Maldivian First Couple is undertaking a visit to China at a time relations between India and Maldives have soured once again, over posts on social media platform ‘X’ by deputy ministers close to the president.
