Chang Yongchun, the President of the Beijing Urban Construction Group or BUCG International, has paid a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The meeting took place on Thursday as part of the Maldivian First Couple’s ongoing state visit to China.
President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed departed to the People’s Republic of China on a state visit on January 7.
The meeting saw the BUCG President noting that the Maldivian leader’s visit to China has brought both countries to a new level of cooperation and partnership.
The Maldivian president expressed pleasure at having made China his first destination for a state visit, since assuming office in November 2023.
Muizzu went on to shed light on the high priority his administration places on the relationship between both countries.
Expressing support for the economic growth of Maldives under Muizzu’s administration, the BUCG President briefed the Maldivian leader on an overview of the several projects that the organization is presently conducting.
Muizzu engaged in discussions regarding multiple upcoming development initiatives in the Maldives.
He also complimented the work carried out by BUCG.
The state visit is being conducted upon an official invitation from the President of China, Xi Jinping.
The first couple is accompanied by a high-level delegation of government officials during the visit.
The Maldivian First Couple is undertaking a visit to China at a time relations between India and Maldives have soured once again, over posts on social media platform ‘X’ by deputy ministers close to the president.
