The First Couple of Maldives has visited the Chinese Communist Party Museum in Beijing, China.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed visited the Chinese Communist Party Museum, on Thursday, as part of their ongoing state visit to China.

President Dr. Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha departed to China on a state visit on 07 January, 2024.

The state visit is being conducted upon an official invitation from the President of China, Xi Jinping.

President Dr. Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha arrived in Beijing with a high-level delegation on 10 January, Wednesday.

Upon their arrival, the President and First Lady inspected a Guard of Honor accorded to them.

During the First Couple's visit to the Chinese Communist Party Museum, representatives from the museum provided them with an overview showcasing Chinese culture, and significant historical moments, followed by a tour.

The President and First Lady also signed the guest book at the museum. President Dr. Muizzu mentioned in the message how well the exhibition illustrated the CCP's lengthy history in comprehending the party's development. He continued by praising the efforts made to preserve this significant era of Chinese history.

So far, Muizzu has attending the Invest Maldives Forum in Fuzhou, China, and held meetings with senior Chinese business leaders to explore avenues for strengthening socioeconomic relations between the Maldives and China.

The Maldivian leader has undertaken a visit to China at a time relations between India and Maldives have soured once again, over posts on social media platform ‘X’ by deputy ministers close to the president.

While many have been calling on the government to relieve them of their duties, all the government has done so far is suspend the deputy ministers over the racist and Xenophobic comments they made.
