Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has visited the Training Base for the Yunnan Sports Working Team in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.

VP Hussain visited the sports complex on Thursday.

He visited the sports complex, as part of his ongoing trip to China to attend the ‘China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation’.

The Vice President took a tour of the sports complex, where athletes receive training in judo, gymnastics, swimming, and other sports.

During his tour, the complex's management expressed hope that Maldivian athletes would begin training with them soon.

VP Hussain departed to China on 04 December.

The ‘China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation' is organized by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).

The forum is scheduled to be held from 07 December to 08 December, 2023 in Kunming, Yunnan Province in China.

During his visit, the Vice President is scheduled address the forum and hold meetings with Chinese officials.

Vice President Hussain is accompanied by Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed.

The Vice President will arrive in the Maldives after attending the high-level event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR75) to be held in Geneva from December 11–12, 2023.
