Maldivians will see a golden era of housing and land ownership during the new administration, says President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The newly inaugurated president made this affirmation during his swearing-in ceremony that took place at the Republic Square on Friday evening.
Following his inauguration as the eighth president of the country, the new president delivered his inaugural address, during which he assured that the government would continue its land and housing policy.
As such, he asserted that the people of Maldives would observe a golden era of housing and land ownership during his presidency.
The Maldivian leader went on to announce his plans to build stunning gardens and state-of-the-art buildings during his presidential term, starting from Uthuru Thila Falhu to Fushi Dhiggaru Falhu, for which most of the planning and paperwork has been completed.
Shedding light on the need for a sustainable, fair development framework to carry out development operations, President Muizzu noted that the government's development efforts would follow this vision which he described as a new model to share the advantages of growth to different parts of the country.
Further, he also shed light on medium and long-term objectives and added that the goal was to come up with a master plan for national development for the next 20 years and give it legal power to build the future that the people desire, based on their proposals.
Adding that the government aims to open a window of opportunity to share the aspirations and views of the people in connection with this, President Muizzu urged academic professionals from all walks of life to assist the government with their research and experience.
President Muizzu also emphasized his administration's further development plan, including to establish two integrated development zones in the northern and southernmost regions of the Maldives as well as plans to develop seven urban centers throughout the island nation.
