A woman who was arrested under allegations of attacking an individual with a sharp weapon, has been remanded for 15 days.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) confirmed that the Criminal Court has remanded the suspect on Sunday, upon being presented for her remand hearing.
The 29-year-old woman is to have attacked an individual with a sharp weapon inside a shop on Saturday.
Her identity has not been publicized by the police institution.
MPS revealed that the victim in the assault was receiving treatment for injuries at ADK Hospital, at around 11:02am on Saturday.
A video circulating on social media shows the woman talking to the cashier at a shop that sells mobile phones and electronics. The cashier is seen showing the woman a phone, after she asked to see it. Afterwards, she is seen starting an argument and proceeding to attack the male cashier with a knife before running out of the shop.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
