Monday's sitting of the People's Majlis has been canceled due to a lack of quorum.
The Speaker of the parliament, Mohammed Nasheed, presiding over Monday's session, said the number of members required to meet the quorum was not present.
Speaker Nasheed stated that he did not know why members did not attend.
The number required to reach a quorum is 22.
The topic of holding a referendum to decide the government system was on the agenda of Monday's sitting.
