Newly completed infrastructure projects have been inaugurated in Thinadhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the projects initiated under his administration, as part of his campaign tour across Laamu atoll, in a bid for re-election in this year’s Presidential election, slated for September.

Inaugurated on Wednesday were the new branch of Maldives Immigration, for which the inauguration ceremony was held on the island’s harbor region, newly introduced facilities at the Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital as well as a new powerhouse and an office building of FENAKA Corporation.

The inauguration of the new Maldives Immigration branch in Thinadhoo mirrors the government’s strategic policy of decentralization.

So far, immigration services have been made available across seven islands.

Applicants in Thinadhoo can now select the island as their passport pickup location when submitting their online passport applications through the ‘Imuga’ portal.

The Thinadhoo branch of Maldives Immigration will be open for services from 8am to 3pm every day.

The newly introduced facilities at Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital include a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and an Outpatient Department (OPD) area. The OPD now features 14 consulting rooms, with two labor suites introduced to the labor room alongside four private rooms.

The powerhouse in Thinadhoo has the capacity to generate power of 7.6 megawatts, which signifies a significant leap in delivering dependable and efficient power to the island.

A state-of-the-art establishment, the FENAKA office being inaugurated on Thinadhoo marks a significant milestone in the development of local infrastructure and the sustained progress of the island community.

The government-led initiatives have ensured that the quality of life of island residents has been enhanced and they have been empowered to lead dignified lives.

President Solih has been officially inaugurating several development initiatives that have been completed across the scatter of islands comprising the Maldives, as part of his campaign tours.

The incumbent administration has made significant strides towards the equitable development of all inhabited islands nationwide without discrimination, under the able leadership of President Solih.
