Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has disclosed that the Harbor Development Project of Maafushi Island in Kaafu Atoll, is well underway.
MTCC disclosed this on Tuesday.
As such, the company notes that the installation of concrete blocks for quay wall construction is ongoing, with 74 percent completion. Quay wall concrete works are also ongoing, at the site, according to MTCC.
The project was mobilized on 12 April 2023.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct new harbor basin dredging operations in an area measuring 63,711 cubic meters as well as maintenance dredging operations spanning a 28,836 cubic-meter-area.
In addition to this, channel dredging operations will be carried out in an area measuring 4,414 cubic meters.
The construction of a breakwater measuring 31 meters, a 680-meter rock boulder revetment and a geo bag revetment measuring 700 meters are also included under the scope of the project.
The company will also be constructing a quay wall measuring 374 meters, a concrete jetty measuring 160 meters by two meters and a bridge measuring 19 meters by three meters.
Further, 1,869-square meters of harbor pavement and harbor lights will also be installed under the development project.
The Maafushi harbor development project is valued at MVR 76.48 million.
