MTCC commenced the physical work of the project on 22 August 2023

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced physical work for the Shore Protection Project of Funadhoo Island in Shaviyani Atoll.

MTCC disclosed that the company commenced the shore protection project of Funadhoo Island on 22 August 2023.

MTCC was awarded the contract for the Sh. Funadhoo shore protection project, on 26 January 2023.

The contract was signed by Director General Fathimath Shana Farooq on behalf of the Ministry and CEO Adam Azim, on behalf of MTCC.

Under this project, the beach of the island will be protected to solve the problem of erosion. A 670-metre revetment and three 20-metre groynes will be installed to protect the erosion area and the beach will be enriched with sand.

The project is to be completed within 280 days.

The value of the project is MVR 20 million.
