The harbor development project in Maalhos island of Alif Alif atoll nears completion.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) disclosed that the project has so far seen 80 percent progress.
As such, MTCC noted that they have completed the construction of the harbor jetty and the development of the harbor pavement.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to carry out dredging and excavation operations in an area measuring 24,335 cubic meters.
The company was also contracted to construct a quay wall measuring 394 meters, a 407-meter breakwater, a groyne measuring 56 meters as well as a revetment measuring 100 meters.
Further, the scope of the project also includes the development of a harbor pavement measuring 1,970 square meters.
MTCC was contracted the project to design and build Maalhos harbor by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure back in November 2020.
The project is valued at MVR 61.3 million.
