The National Awards of Honor and Recognition are to be conferred at the official ceremony to commemorate this year’s Independence Day.
This was announced by the National Awards Committee on Monday.
The President's Office revealed that four individuals and one organization will be conferred the National Awards of Honor.
17 individuals and one organization will be presented with the National Award of Recognition this year.
The official ceremony to commemorate this year’s Independence Day will be held at the Maldives Center for Social Education (MCSE) at 10am on July 26.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will be delivering a national address during the ceremony, to commemorate the day.
This year’s Independence Day ceremony will see several awards presented alongside the National Awards of Honor and Recognition including the President's Award for Special Achievement and the Special Medal for Memorizing the Holy Quran.
Tasked with selecting the recipients of the National Awards, the National Awards Committee also has the responsibility of vetting and selecting recipients of the President's Award for Special Achievement.
15 individuals are to be conferred medals for achieving the highest rank in an academic or skill training course this year, with two recipients to receive awards for attaining the highest level in an international exhibition or competition.
In addition to this, one individual will be recognized for their skill and innovation and one organization will be recognized for its contributions.
The government will also be recognizing 10 individuals for their outstanding achievement in memorizing the Holy Quran while attaining the highest grade, this year.
