Several completed infrastructural development projects have been inaugurated in Ihavandhoo island of Haa Alif atoll.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the projects during his ongoing campaign tour of Haa Alif atoll, as part of his campaign for re-election in the upcoming Presidential election.
Inaugurated in Ihavandhoo island on Wednesday include the newly upgraded harbor of the island, a FENAKA office building, the island school’s multipurpose hall as well as the community center.
The ceremonies for each of these projects were held separately on the island.
The harbor upgrading work was carried out by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), under which the company expanded the harbor, constructed a breakwater measuring 251 meters, installed a revetment measuring 178 meters, constructed a bridge as well as a 121-square meter ramp. Under the scope of the project, navigational lights, streetlights and a pavement were also installed.
The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project to MTCC on 26 August 2019.
MTCC was contracted to develop the multipurpose hall at Ihavandhoo School as well, with Two A. Company Pvt. Ltd being contracted to develop the community center.
The community center is a state-of-the-art facility that paves the path for sports and civil society development initiatives.
The incumbent administration has made significant progress in ensuring equitable development across all inhabited islands across the nation, as well as efforts to improve the living standards of citizens and enabling them to live dignified lives.
