President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has unveiled the new extension building of the Health Center in Dhiggaru island of Meemu atoll.
The president officially opened the Dhiggaru health center extension building as part of his ongoing campaign tour of Meemu and Vaavu atolls, which he began on Saturday.
The new wing of Dhiggaru health center features a public health unit that offers preventive and promotive health services, an administrative space that manages and coordinates the healthcare staff as well as a medical store that ensures the availability and quality of essential medicines and supplies.
The new wing will provide improved facilities and services for the residents of the island as well as neighboring islands.
During the ceremony held on Sunday, President Solih toured the new wing and inspected the several sections of the wing.
The Maldivian leader departed on the three-day campaign tour on Saturday, as part of his campaign for re-election in the upcoming Presidential election.
The president’s campaign tour of Meemu and Vaavu atolls, will conclude on July 17.
During these visits the president will be holding discussions with the island communities regarding their needs and the issues they are currently facing.
In Vaavu atoll, President Solih will visit Rakeedhoo, Keyodhoo, Felidhoo, Thinadhoo and Fulidhoo, where again he will be holding discussions with the island communities regarding their needs and requirements.
So far, the Maldivian leader has embarked on campaign tours across Shaviyani and most recently, Kaafu atoll.
The incumbent administration has made significant progress in ensuring parallel development of all inhabited islands across the nation, as well as efforts to improve the living standards of citizens and enabling them to live a dignified life.
