The fourth amendment to the Presidential Elections Act, has been ratified.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ratified the fourth amendment bill to the Presidential Elections Act on Wednesday.

Upon ratification, the act has been enacted and publicized in the government gazette.

The amendment was passed during the 13th sitting of the People’s Majlis’ second session for the ongoing year on June 19.

The bill proposes to amend Section 5(d) of the legislation and proposes to extend the window presidential candidates can file for their candidacy from 10 to 14 days.

The fourth amendment comes a little over three years since the third amendment to the act was ratified in October 2019.
