45 individuals on the final list will be allotted flats

The government is to award flats to individuals who scored below 50 points in the Civil Service Category of the ‘Hiyaa’ housing scheme.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih approved the allocation of flats, following a cabinet meeting on Thursday, to individuals who scored below 50 points in the Civil Service Category, from 145 flats from the ‘Hiyaa’ Housing Scheme that are still vacant.

The decision was reached following cabinet recommendations after deliberations on a paper submitted by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

The issue of providing flats to 45 individuals who were previously listed as ineligible to receive housing in the civil service category due to having scored below 50 points, was discussed by ministers of the cabinet on Thursday.

It has been revealed that the final list prepared by the ministry does not include applicants who scored below 50 points in any category, other than the civil service category.

A specific number of flats are allocated for individuals working in technical fields in the Civil Service and Malé City Council, under the housing scheme.

The cabinet recommended allocating the 145 flats that have become available for multiple reasons, following the order of the reserve list.
