MVR 5.2 billion spent on PSIP

The Government has spent MVR 5.2 billion on Public Sector Investment Projects

The Maldivian Government has spent MVR 5.2 billion on Public Sector Investment Projects (PSIP), by 15 June 2023.

According to the statistics publicized by the Ministry of Finance, the highest expenditure was made on projects related to the transport sector. As such, the state has so far spent MVR 1.67 billion on this sector; with MVR 604.7 million spent on airport development projects and MVR 584.7 million spent on harbor development projects during this time frame. MVR 460.4 million was spent on bridge development projects.

Additionally, MVR 1.2 billion has been spent on road development and land reclamation projects. As such, the state has so far spent MVR 565.9 million on land reclamation projects and MVR 650.9 million on road development projects.

Ministry's statistics show that MVR 482 million has been spent on housing and infrastructure projects.

Additionally, MVR 71.6 million has been spent on general administration projects.

The government has spent MVR 768.1 million on water and sewerage development projects. This includes MVR 604.8 million on installation of water and sewerage systems in islands, MVR 103.2 million spent on water systems and MVR 60.1 million spent on sewerage system installation.

Ministry's statistics goes on to reveal that MVR 229.7 million has been spent on the education sector.

While MVR 164.6 million has been spent on coastal protection projects, MVR 44.5 million was spent on waste management projects.

Statistics also shows that MVR 193.7 million was spent on the social and religious services. As such, MVR 33.3 million has been spent on mosques.

Furthermore, MVR 102.4 million was spent on health sector development projects.

The Maldivian Government's expenditure currently sits at MVR 20.9 billion according to the Finance Ministry statistics.
