The friendly ties between the governments of Maldives and Hungary progressed well particularly over the past two years, through high-level visits, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The president made this remark during a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Monday, which saw the new Ambassador of Hungary to Maldives István Szabó presenting his Letter of Credence to the Maldivian leader.
The meeting saw President Solih highlighting that both countries had made progress in fostering closer ties, particularly over the past two years through high-level visits.
Welcoming Ambassador Szabó to the Maldives, President Solih congratulated him on the beginning of his ambassadorial tenure.
President Solih highlighted that this week will mark the 48th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between the Maldives and Hungary.
Discussions also revolved around topics of shared interest including higher education, sports, tourism, and economic cooperation.
Before concluding their discussions, President Solih and Ambassador Szabó expressed mutual commitment to solidify the ties of friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Hungary.
