The Island Council members of Nolhivaranfaru Island in the Haa Dhaalu Atoll has commended the administration's development initiatives in the island.

The Island Council members acknowledged the current administration's efforts in initiating and progressing various development projects in the island, during a meeting with Vice President Faisal Naseem.

VP Naseem met with the Nolhivaranfaru Island Council members, at the President's Office, on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the members highlighted the successful completion of the water and sewerage project.

They also highlighted the near completion of the construction of 100 housing units in the island, aimed at addressing the pressing housing requirements of the island.

The meeting also saw council members expressing their primary priorities and concerns regarding the ongoing development of the island. As such, the members emphasized on the critical need to undertake projects to develop the road infrastructure and deepen the harbor channel.

The members noted the need to expand educational institutions in the island and the development of sports facilities.

The Island Council members of Nolhuvaranfaru expressed the need to improve the healthcare services in the island.

Additionally, VP Naseem was also made aware of the challenges posed by the island's diverse population, consisting of migrants from three other islands.

Furthermore, the members shared their concerns about the compensation framework of the council's administrative workforce, which currently comprises over 40 individuals.

VP Naseem reassured that the administration is committed to addressing the concerns raised during the meeting by prioritizing the most urgent issues.

The President's Office notes that the administration places a high value on enhancing the standard of living for islanders and encouraging all-encompassing development to improve the islands.
