Correctional officers at the prison on Maafushi island of Kaafu atoll have confirmed that the inmate who was injured in a fight on Friday had not been attacked with a sharp object.

An official from the prison said on Monday that the inmate’s injuries were nail marks. The assault occurred at Unit 9’s second wing.

RaajjeMV understands that the Maldives Correctional Services is investigating the matter, no further details have been provided about the extent of the injuries the extent of the injuries.

Officers of the correctional services have increased security at Maafushi’s Unit 9.
