The delay in getting the planned election center needed to prepare for the upcoming 2023 Presidential Election will not disrupt the commission's schedules for the election, says President of the Elections Commission, Fuad Thaufeeq.
Fuad stated this while speaking on the 'Falasurukhee' program of RaajjeTV, on Sunday.
Speaking on the program he noted that although an election center was arranged for the upcoming election, the commission got to officially use it later than expected. As such, he noted that even though the Commission hoped to begin work in the new center earlier this year, they were given the chance to do so by the end of April.
Fuad went onto say that the work that must be completed before the staff can begin working there is now in progress.
Even though there will be no disruptions to the commission's schedule for the Presidential Election, Fuad noted that his staff had to face many challenges due to the lack of a suitable election center. As such, he noted that being crowded in a small space led to a slowness in the speed of work .
The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, assigned Dharubaaruge as the election center for the upcoming Presidential Election. The Elections Commission has now commenced the flow plans, work charts and administrative works for the newly allocated election center.
