The Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of the Republic of Rwanda have signed the Agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements.

The signing of Visa Waiver Agreement, allows for the exemption of visas for single or multiple entry, exit or transit for both countries' nationals, for a period of 30 days.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, on behalf of the Government of Maldives and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda, Vincent Biruta, on behalf of the Government of Rwanda.

The agreement signing ceremony was held in London.

The ceremony saw Minister Shahid thanking the Government of Rwanda for its commitment towards strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and conveyed hope that the signing of this agreement will increase avenues for engagement and people to people contact between the Maldives and Rwanda

The Foreign Minister of Rwanda also expressed keen interest in strengthening the bilateral ties with the Maldives.
