President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with the men's national beach volleyball team and the bodybuilding team.

The president met with members of both teams at the President’s Office.

The meeting was joined by Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof and officials of the volleyball and bodybuilding associations.

The Maldives national beach volleyball team recently bagged gold at the Central Asian Beach Volleyball Tournament, with the national bodybuilding team having bagged gold, silver, and bronze at the World Bodybuilding and Physique Championships.

Engaging with both teams, the president congratulated them on their successes at the international sports tournaments.

He went on to shed light on the administration's commitment to sports development.

President Solih also assured the teams that his administration remains committed to provide opportunities for local athletes, adding that the administration's efforts are “bearing fruit”.

Highlighting that beach volleyball and water sports are two fields that could be developed further, the president also assured the teams that the administration remains committed to pave the way for more training opportunities.

Minister Mahloof noted that the administration has been successful in the efforts to develop the country’s sports sector over the course of the past four years.

These achievements include the recent wins for the beach volleyball and bodybuilding teams.

Minister Mahloof went on to extend gratitude to the president for his commitment to develop the sports sector.

President Solih was also briefed by members of the beach volleyball and building associations regarding upcoming events and tournaments.

These are the first gold medals Maldives has bagged at the beach volleyball tournament and bodybuilding championship.
