Maldives and Korea have celebrated 55 years of diplomatic relations
A "cultural and sports" event was held on Wednesday night to mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Maldives and Korea.
The ceremony featured various traditional Korean games and activities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Korean Ambassador Jeong Woonjin said this is the first such event since the outbreak of the coronavirus. The 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Maldives and Korea marks a new chapter in the relationship, he said.
The event was attended by the Speaker of the Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed. Speaking at the event, Speaker Nasheed said the number of tourists coming to Maldives from Korea is increasing. The growing pop culture in Korea is remarkable and it is important to hold more events that showcase Korean culture, he said.
The event featured cultural activities as well as taekwondo activities.
