The harbor development project in Lhaimagu island of Shaviyani atoll, is well underway.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that the third shipment of precast concrete blocks required for the construction of the quay wall under the project, was delivered to the site on August 28.
Currently underway are the operations for the harbor basin dredging.
The harbor basin dredging operations have reached 58 percent progress.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to dredge and excavate 31,000 cubic meters, construct a breakwater measuring 350 meters and a quay wall measuring 276 meters.
Further, a revetment measuring 500 meters and the installation of a pavement measuring 1,380 square meters, are required under the scope of the project.
MTCC will also be installing navigation lights and streetlights as part of the project.
The project is valued at MVR 56.3 million.
The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project to MTCC on 7 December 2020.
The project was mobilized on 7 December 2020 as well.
