Maziya Sports and Recreation Club has been crowned champions of the FA Cup, by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).

The team emerged champions of the FA Cup after beating Club Valencia 2 – 0 in the finals, held on Sunday.

Naiz Hassan took the lead for the team in the 14th minute of the game, with Hamza Mohamed having expanded the lead with another score, before the whistle was blown for the end of the first half.

Maziya won the tournament with a team comprising of all local players and officials, under the instructions of Assistant Coach Ahmed Suzair.

Maziya is the two-time defending champions of the tournament. This is the third time Maziya has won the FA Cup, the first times being during 2012 and 2014.

The team also claimed the league trophy in the last three seasons consecutively.

The team that came in second in the FA Cup this year, is Club Green Streets.

Maziya made it to the finals after winning the first round of the semi finals against Green Streets.
