Britain backs family's call to make Yameen Rasheed's murder investigation impartial

The British mission in Geneva has backed slain writer Yameen Rasheed’s family’s call for an impartial investigation into the murder.
The United Kingdom’s statement at the ongoing Human Rights Council’s 35th session was tweeted on Friday.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) had rejected a total of 811 letters submitted by Yameen’s family and well-wishers that called on the service to make its investigation more transparent.
Officers had summoned the murdered writer’s father, Hussain Rasheed, 54, and had him collect and take all the letters back.
On 5th June, the MPS had released a statement claiming that it had arrested all its suspects in the murder.
The police have reportedly garnered enough evidence against said suspects and are ready prosecution.
The police have arrested seven individuals for Yameen’s murder, one of them being a lawyer accused of trying to obstruct the investigation.
Yameen was found stabbed over thirty times in his head, chest, and neck on 23rd April.
