President meets local teams competing in South Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship 2022

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to further develop table tennis as a competitive sport in the Maldives.

The pledge was made during a meeting with the Maldivian men's and women's table tennis teams competing in the South Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship 2022 on Thursday.

Meeting with the teams, the president encouraged them to perform well, give it their best and wished them success in the tournament.

With this the president highlighted that table tennis could be developed further as a competitive sport in the Maldives and pledged his administration’s support and commitment to do so.

The Minister of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof, and senior representatives of the Maldives Table Tennis Association attended the meeting as well.

President Solih was also presented with a team jersey at the meeting.

The South Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship 2022 will be held in the Maldives from May 9 – 12 this year.

The championship will feature athletes from Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan.
